Dutch-Colombian avant-garde artist Miguel Ángel Cárdenas (b. Colombia, 1934). The works of Cárdenas are somewhat unclassifiable and his output included pop art construction works of the 1960s, pioneering video works, along with drawings, prints and assemblage. After moving to Holland in 1960s Cárdenas adopted the name Michel Cardena. In 1972, along with a group of Amsterdam-based international artists, Cárdenas founded In-Out Center, Amsterdam, an experimental artist-run space exhibiting early video and performance art.
