Spatial Poem no. 1: word event, 1965.

72 cards (including colophon by Shiomi) printed black on off-white stock with pins, in 95 x 95 x 35mm cardboard box addressed to Richard Morgan. First edition with original box.

The word event in question took place March-May 1965. Shiomi asked participants from around the world to write a word (or words) on [a] card along with a place (ref. MoMA Highlights, 2019). Thought to be an edition of less than 120 copies.

Water Music, ReFlux Editions, New York, 1991.

135 x 70 x 25mm in packaging,  bottle is 62 x 35 x 20 mm. Glass bottle filled with water with label printed black on white. Unlimited edition no longer produced. Label designed by George Maciunas. Instructions for the Water Poem on the bottle read ‘1 Give the water still form, 2 Let the water lose its still form’. Shiomi produced earlier series of water in glass bottles as accompaniments to performances in the late 1960s that explored the materiality of water.
